I. History and Background of the First GUI Revolution

Every once in a blue moon, a technological or industrial innovation emerges that permanently revolutionizes and alters the fabric of society. One such societal advancement that receives significantly less recognition than it deserves is the GUI revolution. GUI stands for “Graphical User Interface”. As strange as it may sound, it is commonly pronounced “gooey,”. In short, GUI is a user interface that includes graphical elements — for example: buttons, icons, and windows, to name a few. Xerox originally developed the first commercially available GUI, which was named “PARC,” used by the Xerox 8010 Information System in 1981. Before GUIs were introduced on a commercial level, human/computer text interface was conducted entirely through keyboard text creation — more commonly referred to as a prompt. Commands through keyboard text creation, or prompt, were typed out on a keyboard to initiate responses from a computer. Ultimately, the use of these commands and the need for exact spelling laid the ground for an unpleasant, difficult to use, and inefficient interface — especially for ordinary users. Advancement of effective GUI revolutionized the Internet and desktop computers, as the user experience became significantly more accessible and simpler to manage for those with no prior coding or technical knowledge. Thus, the popularity of the Internet and desktop computers skyrocketed, mainly owing to the commercial introduction of GUI.

The creation of easier to user, efficient, and user-friendly GUIs has proven catalytic in the mass adoption of laptop and desktop computers as a primary or secondary source of news and information access for the mass public. As a result, many users began to employ computers in their homes and on the go. Similarly, the general public began to adopt smartphones and other smart technology more willingly as the technology became more accessible to the regular public without the need for any specialized skills or expertise. However, much work remains to be done as it pertains to GUI development within the crypto space and blockchain industry — especially with respect to smart phones and other smart applications. To that point, the decentralized nature of blockchain technology is often lauded for its openness and availability to anyone who wishes to participate; however, in reality, blockchain based applications are still difficult to use and access on smartphones, which makes the transfer of cryptocurrencies through mobile smart devices especially impractical.

II. Another GUI Revolution Will Transform the Crypto and Blockchain Space, Through Smartphones

By creating a user interface on smart phones that is both accessible and easy to use, developers may thereafter facilitate the widespread application and adoption of Blockchain solutions to cryptocurrency transfers by the general public — without the need for any specialized coding skills or background knowledge in computer language. In other words, by creating better GUI, developers and blockchain-based applications can revolutionize the way that cryptocurrencies are sent and received by way of smartphones. Goran Paunovic, the Creative Director of ArtVersion Interactive, a Chicago based independent creative agency focused on branding, graphic, UI/UX and web design, confirms the need for a GUI revolution within the crypto and blockchain space, especially on smartphones, as to facilitate cryptocurrency transactions:

“User experience and product design are well known as some of the most effective tools for companies to make conversions and differentiate themselves in the digital sphere, and their presence in blockchain is critical to enable the technology to reach its full potential. Companies that want to compete in the evolution of blockchain and that understand the full potential of the technology will need to “sell” the experience by expressing the product’s value to the user and, ultimately, how it can provide meaning to the end user.”

The best way for companies to “sell” their experiences in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space is through improved GUI designs, especially on smartphones, where there is a drastic need for improvement of user-friendliness on many, if not most, blockchain platforms. Innovative products can best reach mass audiences if the products are made to be as accessible and user friendly as possible, thereby aiming to retain old customers and attract new ones. For these reasons, another GUI revolution (specifically, on smartphone applications) will transform the crypto and blockchain space. Subsequently, user interest in these technologies will undoubtedly rise significantly and increase the value of most commonly used coins.

III. How Stibits is Attempting to Play a Major Role in the Next GUI Revolution

As you may reasonably imagine, one of the largest barriers to widespread crypto adoption and usage is the lack of accessibility on the blockchain-based platforms. Without constant and reliable accessibility to one’s cryptocurrency and crypto wallet, users are unlikely to adopt a blockchain in masse. However, Stibits is on the forefront of developing a GUI that proves to be extremely efficient and user friendly, allowing for users to have access to the Stibits platform at all times, and in the simplest manner possible.

Stibits is working towards a GUI solution that would allow users without any background knowledge of blockchain technology, or without any specialized coding or computer science skills, to use their platform at ease. Stibits fully understands that user experience should be the primary focus in the maturation and evolution of blockchain technology, especially on smart phones and other smart technology. In that breath, our team at Stibits realizes that user-friendly cryptocurrency is extremely vital — which is why Stibits has made it a primary focus to be available on all platforms. As a result, you can now find Stibits on Android, iOS, and computers. Across all platforms, Stibits is similarly user friendly, and generally speaking, no complications ever arise during desired transactions. Stibits strives to play a major role in the next GUI revolution — a revolution that will change the way users send and receive cryptocurrencies on their smartphones. Ultimately, we hope to build a platform that is seamless, easy, and efficient to use for all, regardless of how much technical knowledge of blockchain technology or coding or cryptocurrencies you have prior to engagement.

Stibits is aiming to refine the current GUI model on smart phones, and in doing so, make the experience of receiving and sending money much easier for our users. We plan on achieving this feat by focusing on things like usability fixes and UX improvements, just to name a couple. As it stands, bad UX is a common phenomenon for most apps, among various other GUI flaws. For example, consider Spotify’s smartphone app, which continues to struggle with poorly executed animations, design choice inconsistencies, and poor intuitiveness of interaction. Spotify is not alone, as most applications face an uphill battle in revolutionizing the state of GUI on smartphones. Stibits, recognizing this issue, is pledging to create a modernized and optimal user interface that makes it easy for anyone, no matter their prior background or knowledge, to transfer cryptocurrencies via their smartphones.
